“Having worked with Steve Williams on tour and in the studio, I can honestly say he is world class in everything he does: as a producer, musician and musical director.”
PJ Phillips

As a London music producer, Steve’s Musical career began at the age of nine when he started learning to play the piano and drums. This led to him enrolling at the Royal Academy of Music to study orchestral music aged 18 for four years, and then on to Guildhall School f Music to study jazz and rock.

After graduation, a chance encounter led Steve on his first tour and opened a number of doors…

“I came out of Guildhall and I’d heard that you might land something if you answered adverts in Melody Maker. I answered one looking for a drummer; it turned out to be Midge Ure and I went on tour with him around the world. I ended up not only playing drums, but also a whole host of other instruments including bodhran, accordian and even the penny whistle…”

The 90’s led Steve to become a musical director for a variety of pop music touring acts of the time…

“I played with a lot of the Stock, Aitken and Waterman artists like Rick Astley and Kim Appleby. Following this, I was musical director for Lisa Stansfield while recording albums with various chart artists of the time.”

Steve has also worked in film music, on many Hollywood films including ‘From Hell’ starring Johnny Depp and the Britney Spears film ‘Crossroads’. He also worked with Sting and Eric Clapton, and as his reputation grew as a music producer, so did the need for a state of the art facility, which eventually led to the creation of The Chapel Studios, his own recording studio in London.

From this base Steve continues to work on varied and interesting projects as a music producer, record producer, mix engineer and mastering engineer. He is defining his own inimitable production style, and on occasion, on many of his productions, you will find him back behind the drum kit…

“I have recorded many of my songs with Steve and have always achieved superb results that never fail to please. The atmosphere working with Steve in the studio is friendly and relaxed, and as a producer, he manages to get the most amazing vocal sound not only through applying his extensive production knowledge, but also because of the incredible equipment in the studio.”
